- Abstract
The article addresses use of conditions to authorise the deprivation of liberty of an adult in a care home or hospital. Topics discussed include ways to protect the dignity of patients by ensuring that restrictions imposed to protect that person and not overly intrusive, role of supervisory bodies in ensuring that hospitals only impose proportionate restriction that are necessary to protect the person from harm, and criteria to ensure that conditions are appropriate to the protected person.
