- Abstract
This study examines approaches to learning and study skills of undergraduate nursing students. Furthermore, this research attempts to investigate whether there is any difference in students' approaches to learning in regards to some demographic characteristics and perceived academic achievement. This descriptive and cross-sectional study involves 311undergraduate students in Departments of Nursing. The data of the study have been gathered through the administration of The Approaches and Study Skills Inventory for Students (ASSIST) by the researcher. Data were evaluated by numbers, percentages, means, standard deviations, ANOVA, pearson's moment correlation coefficient and t- test. Some of the basic findings of the study can be outlined as follows: undergraduate nursing students preferred deep and strategic approaches significantly higher than surface approach. It was also found that both female students have ASSIST scores significantly higher than the male students, and all students' preferred strategic approaches significantly higher than the others.
