- Abstract
This article discusses laparoscopic ventral mesh rectopexy (LVMR) as a treatment for recurrent full-thickness rectal prolapse after a failed Altemeier operation. LVMR has become the gold standard procedure for rectal prolapse and has shown favorable outcomes in treating various defecation problems. The article presents a case study of a 56-year-old female patient who underwent LVMR after experiencing faecal incontinence caused by rectal prolapse. The procedure was successful, and the patient reported normal stool passage with no rectal prolapse after four weeks. The authors note that determining the selection criteria for conservative or surgical treatment remains a clinical challenge.
