- Abstract
An environmental study of pollinator effectiveness of Bumblebees in Agapanthus compared to other insects in the region of Tasmania is presented. White and blue naturalized flowers (Agapanthus) of the area with pollen loads of 9-10 specimens for each of Bumblebees and other pollinator insects were considered for the study. From the product of the number of flower visits, the percentage of visits that involved stigmatic contact, and the mean number of Agapanthus pollen grains per insect type, the pollinator effectiveness score was calculated for each insect type. The study concluded Bumblebee workers/drones were the most common visitors to flowers of Agapanthus, followed by honeybees and other insects.
