- Title
Go to Jail, Have an STD Test.
- Authors
Hollander, Dore
- Abstract
The article reports on the testing for common sexually transmitted diseases (STD) for men and women who are arrested in the United States. The incidence of some sexually transmitted diseases is high among incarcerated adults, and men and women in local jails typically are released soon after arrest and then have limited access to health care. A commentary accompanying the results argues that correctional facilities may be "an important setting for public health intervention."
