- Abstract
The article presents information about various books on family-related topics and is recent additions to the Family Information Centre of the Australian Institute of Family Studies. The book "Families, Labour and Love: Family Diversity in a Changing World," by Maureen Baker discusses of family trends in Australia, New Zealand and Canada and focuses on how these three "settler societies" have been shaped by colonisation, immigration, globalisation, demographic changes and family laws and policies. The book "Youth, Education and Risk: Facing the Future," by Peter Dwyer and Johanna Wyn examines the transition of today's Western youth to adulthood, and how the social and economic changes of the past 20 years has affected this. The book "Creating a Safe Place: Helping Children and Families Recover Form Child Sexual Abuse," produced by the Children and Families Project a multi-disciplinary team which is part of a national network of centres run by the British charity NCH to offer therapeutic support to sexually abused children and their relatives.
