- Title
Dealing with the Implications of Accounting Change.
- Authors
Arnold, Jerry; Blisard, Brian; Duggan, Joseph
- Abstract
The article looks at business accounting rules and practices as of 2012, focusing on how they are changing and what steps financial executives should take to prepare for and manage those changes. The authors say that international convergence of accounting standards is a long-term trend that will continue despite the complexity and delays inherent in regulatory change, citing the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB). They note that information technology (IT) needs, internal controls, and budget planning are among the business functions that may be affected by accounting changes.
