- Abstract
The article focuses on the special relationship developed by French artist Gustave Doré with Scotland and its implications for his aspirations as a painter. It highlights Doré's works which he devoted to landscapes, inspired by Scotland, during the period 1873 to 1881. It offers a brief personal information about Doré, along with examples of his works. The role of Scotland in the fulfillment of Doré's ambitions is discussed.
