- Abstract
The article focuses on post-apocalyptic cinemas, a fantasy genre, which indicates current trends and issues, began from cold war era. Films of 1950 like "On the beach" saw fears of World War III reflecting Korean war, 1960 reflected great social unrest, 1970 saw cultural, economic, and environmental awareness and film "Mad Max" with dystopian themes, 1980 saw general themes,1990 saw shift in themes with science fiction like "The Matrix", and 2000 films depicted as tumultuous decade.
