- Abstract
The present work, titled "NS Criminal Justice in the Saar. National Socialist Criminal Law in the Jurisdiction of the Special Court Saarbrücken 1939-1945," deals with National Socialist criminal law and the jurisdiction of the Special Court Saarbrücken during the years 1939-1945. The author analyzes the reasoning behind the judgments and examines whether and which typical elements of NS criminal justice can be found in the proceedings. The work also deals with the influence of National Socialism on the jurisdiction of criminal justice in the Saarland and presents abstract theses as a summary of the results. Changes in the court system and criminal procedure are also discussed, including the restriction of the independence of judges and the defense. The report deals with a file investigation of the Special Court in Saarbrücken during the Nazi era. Information is provided about the judges and prosecution of the court, with a strong connection to National Socialist organizations being highlighted in the case of the chairman. During the period under investigation, the Special Court imposed death sentences on 31 men and 3 women, with most of the proceedings involving property offenses. The convictions were based on war criminal law and were considered sabotage against the "Volksgemeinschaft" (national community). The work offers tangible results and shows empathy for the victims without compromising methodological correctness.
