- Abstract
This article cautions against solely attributing limited access to healthcare to stigma in neglected tropical disease research. While stigma can have negative effects on individuals, such as social exclusion and treatment delay, the article argues that other factors, such as structural, economic, and political factors, also play a significant role. The text emphasizes the need for a comprehensive understanding of the various factors that contribute to limited healthcare access and suggests strategies such as improving treatment access and quality of care to address these issues. It cautions against solely focusing on stigma as the main explanation for limited access to healthcare.
