- Abstract
The article discusses the paper presented by the author at the Nagoya American Studies Summer Seminar (NASSS) 2009 on the Japanese immigrants picture of marriage and social justice in the U.S. It outlines the history of immigration in the U.S. and the practice of marriage by Japanese immigrants in the 20th century in the U.S. as well as visualization as strategy of social justice under the Gentleman's Agreement of 1908. It also cites the Japanese pursuit for social rights and the relations between the U.S. and Japanese which is essential to influence Japanese rights to marriage and immigration policy. It notes the use of image for redefining social justice and the pictures of bride for fact-finding survey.
