- Title
Issachar Ber Ryback: Leben und Werk.
- Authors
Terpitz, Olaf
- Abstract
Compared to fellow contemporary Jewish artists such as Marc Chagall, Natan Altman, or El Lissitzky, rather little attention has been devoted hitherto to Issachar Ber Ryback (Rybak). Ryback came to Paris at a time of rising nationalism, which became apparent in the stance some art critics took - the rejection of artists from abroad in general, and of Jewish artists in particular. ISBN 978-3-9556-5311-8 (paperback) Olaf Terpitz The study under review aims at introducing the reader to an artist who figured prominently in the art scene of his day, but who seems to have fallen into oblivion for various reasons afterwards.
