- Title
JEWISH HISTORY AND CULTURE IN EASTERN EUROPE, 1600-2000.
- Abstract
The article announces that the Center for Advance Judaic Studies will sponsor an interdisciplinary seminar in 2002-2003 that will focus on assembling and placing in perspective the fruits of its post-doctoral scholarship. Some of the possible topics that will be covered are the limits of "crisis" as an explanatory model for individual and collective change among East European Jews, the ways of East European Jewry in maintaining a coherent entity across the periodic recastings of political boundaries, and neglected issues of gender and economic life among East European Jews. Moreover, the Center is inviting applications from post-doctoral candidates in the humanities and social sciences.
