- Title
Derivational morphology and the lexicon-grammar competition in Functional Discourse Grammar: An overview.
- Authors
Portero Muñoz, Carmen
- Abstract
The contributions in this issue are firmly embedded in the theory of Functional Discourse Grammar (hereafter, FDG), adhering to its underlying principles, and making use of specific concepts and terminology of the theory. The unifying thread of the volume is the division of labour between syntax and the lexicon as regards a number of derivational processes that are explored using the FDG framework. In the following sections I will provide an overview of the FDG architecture and an introduction to some of the most relevant notions that the articles of this issue make use of. It is important to note that I will be confined to only those aspects of the theory that are relevant for the topics dealt with in the articles of the issue. For a more comprehensive overview of the theory the reader is referred to Hengeveld & Mackenzie (2008), Keizer (2015) and Genee, Keizer & Garcı´a Velasco (2016).
