- Abstract
The article examines several female coach-athlete relationships. It also explores how effective coach-athlete relationships can be established. Speed skating coach Xiuli Wang recalls that when Olympic medallist Clara Hughes asked her for technical help, she confronted Hughes about the changes that must be made and showed her on ice how to skate well. Ice hockey coach Melody Davidson stresses the importance of communication in coaching a team while curling coach Elaine Dagg-Jackson values credibility and relationship building.
