- Abstract
Presents a study based on interviews with battered women whose partners had completed a batterers' intervention program (BIP) administered through a womens' shelter in a Canadian urban setting. Exploration of the women's experience with the BIP, including changes, if any, in their partners; Finding that the programs were mostly beneficial, enhancing their feelings of safety and personal well-being, feeling validated by counselors, and increasing their knowledge of abusive behaviors.
