- Abstract
The article focuses on mandated intervention programs for males who have committed domestic violence in Australia. It states that the programs started in the late 1970s-1980s and many of them were influenced by movements for victims. It says that as of December 2010, Australian study on programs for male perpetrators has been mainly confined to procedural, organisational analysis, and/or policy and few data have dealt on the effects of the programs on domestic violence perpetrators. It discusses the Gold Coast Domestic Violence Integrated Response (GCDVIR) service, which focuses on the interventions' provision and aims to enhance the safety of victims, decrease secondary victimization, and reduce the monitoring and enhancement of interagency collaboration and cooperation.
