- Title
A New Human Rights Agenda for the United States: New Realism, Human Rights, and the Rule of Law.
- Authors
Richardson, Bill
- Abstract
The author reflects on U.S. national identity in relation to its foreign policy. It is the author's view that several administration practices by U.S. President George W. Bush such as allegedly violating the Geneva Conventions, denying habeas corpus, torturing prisoneers, and tapping phone lines are against the basic values of the U.S. as a nation. Ideas on New Realism based on a respect for international law and human rights and a commitment to multilateral cooperation are also presented.
