- Abstract
This article presents some results of two studies of second- and third-generation preschool and primary school children of Turkish migrants in West Berlin. The structural linguistic effects in the grammatical subsystems which expresses nominal reference are considered. A description is given on the studies and the particular subsamples of preschool and primary school children whose language production is considered. A sketch is also given on the typological features of Turkish relevant to the investigation of nominal reference. Lastly, a summary and perspectives on the issues of language development in this contact setting is presented.
