- Abstract
At the fib symposium in Tel Aviv in April 2013, the fib Medal of Merit was awarded to Jean-François Klein for his outstanding contributions to structural concrete and to fib. This issue of Structural Concrete pays tribute to his engineering achievements with a cover picture of the Third Bosporus bridge in Istanbul, currently under construction, for which Jean-François Klein realized the conceptual design together with Michel Virlogeux and now serves as design project manager. The structure is a combined railway/road bridge with an overall deck width of 57 m. It will be the world's longest spanning railway bridge, with a distance of 1408 m between the two 325 m high towers (Photo: T engineering).
