- Abstract
The effect of solid-solution hardening of the surface layer of the metal due to diffusion saturation with interstitial impurities (oxygen) on the properties of titanium alpha and pseudo-alpha alloys is studied under various kinds of loading (low-cycle pure bending, rotational bending, cyclic tension, and tension under static load). Optimum levels of solid-solution hardening of the surface layer are determined.
