- Abstract
The commercial brand of game hen is mated by male gamecock with large sized of Taiwan country female chickens, which leads to uneven growth of their offspring. Therefore, the farmers could not raise their chicken by batch management. It is in danger of raising chicken without batch management due to executing the poultry house disinfection difficultly. The purpose of this experiment was to select the offspring, which came from the cock of Kaohsiung No. 12 (L12) chicken mated with the hen of Kaohsiung No. 9 (L9) chicken, The offspring of the G3 generation were screened for the heat shock protein 70 BB genotype and the prolactin acceptor PP genotype on the sex chromosome. Both genotypes were selected as homozygous BBPP as the source population of the strain. The results showed that the insemination rate and hatching rate of the G3th generation were 92.7% and 83.1%, respectively. In terms of chick growth traits, the birth weight, 20-week-old body weight, average daily gain, average daily feed intake, and feed conversion ratio were 27.9 g, 2,298.1 g, 16.5 g, 62.1 g, and 3.8, respectively. In terms of laying traits, the average number of eggs laid, the average egg production rate and the average egg weight of hens at the age of 45 weeks were 105, 55.3%, and 41.2 g, respectively.
