- Abstract
The article focuses on the use of generalized linear models on fitting concentration and load rating curves. It presents a study on the use of generalized linear models as a systematic and flexible alternative in fitting sediment or solute concentration and load rating curves in rivers. It argues that using logarithmic link function is advantageous over logarithmic transformation of concentration or load as generalized linear models provide predictions directly on the original measured scale. It presents examples of use of generalized linear model in analyzing suspended sediment concentration for a river in Northern Pennines and phosphorous load for the Illinois River.
