- Abstract
Objective: This study was carried out in the Muş Alparslan University Muş Tulip Application and Research Center Directorate practice land to examine the effects of different growing media (soil, peat, perlite, mortar soil) on the bulb growth of Muş Tulip and to determine the most suitable growing medium. Materials and Methods: In the study, 10 pots were planted for each application and one bulb was planted in each pot in 4 different growing environments: soil, peat, perlite and mortar soil. Muş tulip bulbs were obtained from Muş center Özdilek village, Muş Alparslan University campus area and Yıldız Herbal Products Seed and Agriculture Industry Inc. obtained from the company's land. In the experiment, properties of Muş tulip bulbs such as main bulb weight, juvenile bulb weight, bulb weight, and total number of bulbs were investigated. Analysis of variance and correlation test were applied to the data obtained as a result of the research by using the JMP statistical program, and the differences between the environments were determined by the LSD multiple comparison test. Results: According to the data obtained as a result of the study, it was revealed that the effect of the growth medium on the weight of the main bulb, the weight of the juvenile bulb and the total bulb weight was statistically significant at the 5% level. Conclusion: In this study, in which different growing environments were compared with the soil, which is the natural habitat of Muş Tulip, some vegetative properties of Muş Tulip were examined and it was revealed that mortar soil (1:1:1 ratio campus soil: burnt cattle manure: creek sand) had a more positive effect on all the properties examined. In the light of the characteristics examined in the study, it has been determined that the content of the growing media is important for the dissemination, commercial use and mass production of the Muş tulip.
