Recognizes the influence of essays in the Hemingway and the Natural World conference and collection and of Susan F. Beegel's article "Eye and Heart: Hemingway's Education as a Naturalist. [Recounts the near simultaneous appearance of scholarly queer studies and new ideas on EH's life and work engendered by the publication of GOE in 1986, resulting eventually in the idea of "queer Hemingway", though "not always a Hemingway grounded by queer theorizing." In tracing the recent history of technological awareness in Hemingway studies, the author connects such disparate sources and products as Michael Palin, Andre Dubus III, various text-mapping projects, the multiplication of EH personae via Google, and other "(v)isual renderings of Hemingway's fictional and biographical spaces. "T oo Bad Hemingway Never Reached The Reef: Wharton's Anna Leath and Hemingway's Brett Ashley." Highlights such works as Andrew Farah's Hemingway's Brain in discussing the former and Linda Wagner-Martin's Hemingway's Wars as a standard-setter of the latter.
