- Abstract
On October 20th, 2009, Cardinal William Levada, Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, pronounced a conference of historic importance for Christianity. In it was announced the currently-recognized Anglicanorum coetibus Apostolic Constitution that will furnish ''pastoral supervision and guidance'' for the ex-Anglicans that, in the course of these years, have looked for a strengthening of the communion with Rome. It it a large pastoral step forward by Benedict XVI that enables the warm welcome of the protestant clergy, while at the same time conserving and respecting the validity of the historic forms of devotion, giving expression and space to the cultivated patrimony through the Reform of the Church of England.
