- Title
BASIC TYPES OF CORRELATION BETWEEN TEXT AND ICON, BETWEEN VERBAL AND VISUAL ICONS.
- Authors
Lepakhin, Valerii
- Abstract
The article introduces four types of correlation between the verbal text and the visual text, namely, transposition, transfiguration, projection and imposition. Drawing from the ideas of German scholar A. Hansen-Löve and American linguist C. S. Peirce, the author presents an understanding of the Gospels and the universe with Russian overtones. He makes references to Pavel Florensky's idea of reverse perspective and the Hesychasts' teaching about divine energies.
