- Abstract
The article presents a case study of 75-year-old man diagnosed with severe factor XI (FXI) deficiency due to prolonged activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) detected before prostatectomy. The patient received long-term oral anticoagulant therapy with fluindione without developing any haemorrhagic complications. He had no additional abnormality noted regarding routine haemostasis tests like platelet counts, fibrinogen levels and von Willebrand factor.
