- Abstract
The world-renowned dermatologist and medical scholar, Herman Beerman, died at high noon on New Year's Day 1995 at his home in Philadelphia at the age of 93, following a long illness. Herman Beerman was a good and kind person. While he presented a crusty, gruff exterior, he was quiet, non-aggressive and non-assertive, but friendly, pleasant, courteous, cordial, polite and gentlemanly. He was a teacher of the "old style," a strict disciplinarian with a demanding mein. He expected us to remember the facts as he ordered them for us. He was a good mentor and a role model for many.
