- Abstract
Colleges of Education prepare students to enter the teaching profession with the skills and dispositions needed to be successful in the classroom. Often student teachers are overwhelmed with their newfound responsibilities once they face a classroom full of pupils. Although they seldom adroit it, student teachers need professional nurturing. This article describes how one course, offered during the student teaching semester, identified student needs during this critical phase of their pre-service education. It addresses four of the needs: affirmation, nurturing, employment mentoring and acknowledgment as professionals.
