- Abstract
The article critiques the marriage poems of early American and Puritan poet Anne Bradstreet in New England. It explores the set of figures used in the poem, the anticipation of Christ's future kingdom and customs of Puritans in celebrating marriages by means of biblical language. Poems critiques include "The Quaternions," "Contemplations," and "The Flesh and the Spirit."
