- Abstract
A study published in the International Journal of Dermatology examined the relationship between mental health and skin cancers such as basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma. The study used data from the All of Us Research Program, which aims to include underrepresented groups in medical research. The findings showed that all skin cancers were associated with higher odds of developing psychiatric comorbidities, with melanoma patients having the highest odds of anxiety and depression, and squamous cell carcinoma patients having the highest odds of insomnia. The study suggests that healthcare providers should prioritize the mental well-being of patients with skin cancer, but further research is needed to fully understand this relationship.
