- Abstract
Objectives: To discuss how customers affected by skin disorders hospitalized realize their self-image and analyze the influences of self-image in their lifes. Method: Descriptive-exploratory study with a qualitative approach. Developed based on interviews with nine hospitalized patients with skin disorders in clinics wards of a health institute in the city of Niteroi. The project met the ethical and legal criterion. Results: Five categories stood out of the content analysis of the reports: feelings resulted from the perception of skin condition and social stigma in the lives of clients with skin disorders. Conclusion: The nursing should be available to evaluate those customers with comprehensive vision, as the prejudice and stigma surrounding them were found in all the testimony, which confirms that a person with your altered image is vulnerable to emotional and social repercussions.
