- Title
Global Christianity and the Control of Its Neglected Tropical Diseases.
- Authors
Hotez, Peter J.
- Abstract
The article discusses the implications of the fact that the majority of the world's two billion Christians live in developing countries for global neglected tropical disease (NTD) control and elimination initiatives. The geography of Christianity has changed dramatically over the past century, with more Christians now living in Latin America, sub-Saharan Africa, and Asia. The article highlights the high burden of NTDs in Christian-majority countries, particularly in the Latin American and Caribbean region. It suggests that Christian institutions and organizations could play a crucial role in expanding NTD control and treatment efforts, and calls for increased collaboration between faith-based organizations and the healthcare sector.
