- Authors
JACKSON, JESSICA BARBATA
- Abstract
The article discusses mass lynching of Italians and Sicilians in U.S. history in the late 19th century dealing with the racial animosity and anti-Italian sentiments in the region. Topics include anti-Italian violence by vigilantes in Louisiana in the 1890s, treatment of Italian immigrants in the pre-lynching era, and public discourse in Louisiana. It is also noted that the immigrant Italians were poorly treated and associated them with criminality.
