- Abstract
This paper compared the framing of Iraq war 2003 in two Pakistani newspapers (The Dawn and The Nation) during the time period of September 2001 to September 2003. By applying thematic analysis, more than four hundred editorials were analyzed. The analytical procedure was based on grounded theory approach which dig out various themes and frames from the data. The study objective was to find out different themes, frames and stance by analyzing the editorials of Pakistani newspapers. It was noted that Pakistani newspapers adopted oppositional stance against the war. The majority of data from the newspapers condemned Iraq war and the US policies in the region. Pakistani newspapers were much concerned about the severe consequences of war in Iraq. The newspapers mostly discussed the issues of collateral damages, humanitarian concerns, role of UNO, post war scenario and axis of evil.
