- Authors
Buckley, Rita
- Abstract
The article presents a peer review of a clinical trial which examines the benefits of once-weekly formulation of exenatide in glycemic control. The study also reported improvements in weight loss after four years of treatment in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). An evaluation on the safety and efficacy of exenatide, a glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonist is highlighted. The results of the clinical trial were presented by Leigh MacConell of Amylin Pharmaceuticals Inc. at the 2012 European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) Annual Meeting held in Berlin, Germany.
