- Title
Assessment of abnormalities of gait in children from measurements of the instantaneous foot velocities during the swing phase.

- Abstract
The article describes a microcomputer-based new gait analysis system, which is both suitable for and acceptable to children with neurological motor disorders. Gait measurement techniques have been found to be an important aid in the clinical assessment of children with a neurological defect affecting the motor system. The assessment is made by measuring the position of each foot at very frequent intervals so as to obtain, in effect, a profile of the foot velocities throughout the gait cycle. The apparatus discussed in the article has been found to produce a descriptive record of the pattern of gait in children with a variety of neurological disorders affecting motor activity.
