- Abstract
In this article, I will articulate memoirs about a Northern Italy diocese whose exceptionality is the fact that a bishop actively participated in political resistance to Nazi fascism, supported the partigiani and recorded this experience in a war diary. I also use oral narratives as a way of enriching aspects of social memory and of the present interactions with the writing of history. The reflections are associated with Marc Bloch's discussion about the "hierarchical bilingualism", considering the elaboration of a diary as a source from one of the members of the high clergy and the oral narrative of Luigi Pescarmona, whose family collaborated with the partigiani. I used as a reference in our interviews the contributions of Alessandro Portelli, who contemplates the plurality of voices present in this method of oral history.
