- Abstract
The present study investigated the effects of different storage times and temperatures on the microscopic and microbiologic characteristics of the feed materials, such as soybean meal and fish meal. Microbiological and microscopic changes were investigated in two types of feeds using a 2x2x2 factorial design: feedstuffs (soybean and fish meal), storage conditions (26°C and 37°C) and storage durations (30 and 60 days). Thirty days of storage time did not make any difference in yeast counts. However, yeast counts were increased by increasing storage temperature and time. No moulds were detected in any of the investigated feedstuffs before or after storage. The feedstuffs were examined under a stereo microscope, but no changes were observed.
