- Abstract
The present study was conducted in District Naseerabad, Balochistan to determine the multiple drug resistance against Pasteurella multocida isolates from bovines. For isolation and identification of bacteria forty nasal' swab samples (n=20 buffalo; n=20 cattle) were collected aseptically and cultured on blood agar. Sixteen samples (n=9 buffalo; n=7 cattle) were found positive microbiologically for P. multocida. Disc diffusion test to determine in-vitro antibiotic sensitivity of P. multocida showed all buffalo and cattle isolates 100% sensitivity to chloramphenicol, ciprofloxacin and norfloxacin, while 100% resistance was observed against colistin, streptomycin and trimethoprim for both species. So, it is concluded that chloramphenicol, ciprofioxacin and norfloxacin are the most effective antibiotics against P. multocida for bovines.
