- Title
Life as a Weapon: Making Sense of Suicide Bombings.
- Authors
Hassan, Riaz
- Abstract
An essay is presented on the psychological motivations of suicide bombers and the psychological reaction of individuals and governments to suicide bombers. The author discusses the perception of suicide bombing as a manifestation of Islam and argues that such actions are linked to political motivations rather than religious reasons. It is asserted that religion is an effective recruiting tool for terrorist organizations that have secular political goals, and that suicide bombers are not insane.
