- Abstract
The article discusses German prisoners of war during the Second World War imprisoned at a work camp at Riding Mountain National Park in Manitoba. The author reflects on the Canadian war effort to contribute to the Allied cause by interning prisoners. Prison life included wood cutting duties and prisoners slipped away at night to visit immigrant farming communities nearby. Emphasis is given to the experiences of schoolteacher Catherine Dobrowski hosting two prisoners during a visit. Other topics include rural life, missing prisoners, and the book "Park Prisoners."
