- Abstract
The article explores the metafictional theme of the U.S. novel "Gone With the Wind" by Margaret Mitchell that involves the ideology of the plantation class and industrial capitalism. According to the author, the novel is more about social and historical illusions than its characters. He explores the romance and adventures of Scarlett O'Hara, Ashley Wilkes and Rhett Butler and the development of the theme of illusion and deception in the film adaptation.
