- Abstract
The article focuses on the study which discusses the oceanic island basalts (OIBs) within the Darbut and Karamay ophiolitic mélanges in the West Junggar of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt (CAOB). It says that Darbut and Karamay alkaline basalts occur as tectonic blocks within the mélanges and are formed in oceanic islands/plateaus under the intra-oceanic setting. It mentions that OIBs may be associated with the Middle Devonian mantle plume-related magmatism in the Paleo-Asian Ocean.
