- Title
The Tao of Dying.
- Authors
LaRocca-Pitts, Mark
- Abstract
The article focuses on the tao or way of death. The author avers that the human being is composed of three parts, to wit the body, the mind, and the spirit and various studies suggest that among these three compositions, only the body and the spirit have knowledge on the tao of dying. The mind is said to have forgotten or entombed the knowledge on the way of death. According to Charles Taylor, author of "Sources of the Self," the only way to teach the mind of the tao about dying is to teach the self, which is considered to be a psychological, social, and cultural structure. The author proposes that a time-tested spiritual practice that has both Via Negativa and Via Positiva at its core can help people learn the tao of dying.
