The article reports that the Board of Professional Engineers of Queensland has mandated that any person who provides a professional engineering service in the region will be required to register as a professional engineer of Queensland (RPEQ). The requirement is reportedly meant to address the issue of inexperienced engineers or non-qualified individuals performing engineering work. The government claims that RPEQ is meant to protect the public and raise engineering services standards.
