- Title
Under pressure.
- Abstract
The article reports on the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico which raised questions about deepsea drill safety and backup plans. The disaster occurred on April 20, 2010 when the equipment on the Deepwater Horizon oil rig failed to control a sudden burst of gas pressure. Initial U.S. investigation puts the blame on the failure of a hulk of multi-redundant high-pressure valves. The ongoing leak is addressed by BP by using makeshift funnels to move oil to surface storage ships.
