- Abstract
Objective: To observe the therapeutic effect of electroacupuncture at Jiaji points for persistent somatoform pain disorder. Method: 76 cases of patients with persistent somatoform pain disorder were randomly divided into two groups, 38 cases in each. On the basis of oral administration of duloxetine, the treatment group received electroacupuncture at Jiaji points; while, the control group received conventional acupuncture. Both groups received treatment for 4 weeks; before and after which, HAMD, HAMA and VAS scores were recorded. Result: The effective rates of the treatment group and the control group were 91.9% and 80.6% respectively; differences showed statistical significance (P < 0.05). HAMD, HAMA scores of the treatment group were lower than that of the control group (P < 0.05) and VAS scores of the treatment group after 2 weeks and 4 weeks were superior to those of the control group (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01). Conclusion: Electroacupuncture at Jiaji acupoints is an effective treatment for persistent somatoform pain disorder; it can effectively relieve pain, anxiety and depression. It was also found to be more effective than conventional acupuncture.q
